Harry Jowsey and Riley Reid talk about why you need to be on multiple platforms to not only succeed, but survive.
Riley begins speaking about girls that think it’ll be easy to start an Instagram, and immediately be making $20,000 a month.
Riley: “Who are you? who is your fan base? Were you a tiktok star? Were you on some reality show first? where is your fan base?”
If your fanbase is strictly limited to Instagram than you don’t have a real fan base, because if your Instagram gets deleted then how are you able to monetize yourself?”
Harry: “I look at Logan Paul, he is so diversified. He’s done really well. It’s not just being big on YouTube or like Instagram.
We were talking a lot about my Instagram model friends. Like if their Instagram gets deleted it’s gone. Because they put so much priority into one single platform, doing the same old stuff.
Riley: “Yeah, and you limit yourself.”
Harry: “Also, I feel like people don’t really know you (talking about those that only do Instagram). That’s been the most rewarding thing about the podcast and having long form content. Because people get to know you, and they wanna to sit down and hang out with you.”
Riley: “I agree! That’s what I found!”
This is something I have been trying to teach professionals and brands. Having one social media platform is not enough.
1) If the market changes, and no one uses your application anymore, it’s over for you. You would have to start over
2) It’s difficult to build an emotional connection with only Facebook or Instagram. Creating long-form content whether on YouTube or podcast is ideal.
